“Audubon, Easter Bunny, Autobot, he’s surviving” | “gnivivrus s‘eh ,tobotuA ,ynnuB retsaE ,nobuduA”

“If I were green, I would die.” “In Aberdeen, I will die.” “I’m in need of a guy.” “I believe I will die if I eat apple pie.” These are among the several ways that the lyrics “Da ba dee, da ba di,” from the 1999 song “Blue (Da Ba Dee)” by Eiffel 65, have been misheard. For your listening pleasure, I present those nonsense syllables in reverse.

An immigrant family celebrates Thanksgiving | gnivigsknahT setarbelec ylimaf tnargimmi nA

Isn’t America grand? These people have just arrived from Reversia, and they’re making their best effort to say “Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas” in English. I welcome them to this country, although I can’t get used to their bizarre, hyena-like laughter or their custom of meticulous vomiting at the dinner table.

“Oh noka wosha?” | “?ahsow akon hO”

The action and music in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory beg to be reversed, don’t they? As soon as BlogExplosion approves this blog, I’ll have a big enough audience to bring out the really good backwards stuff from that movie. After all, you don’t rev up the party until enough guests have arrived.

Obi-Wan is a good sport to heal Grievous during the fight | thgif eht gnirud suoveirG laeh ot trops doog a si naW-ibO

Perhaps the one moment of poor sportsmanship on Obi-Wan Kenobi’s part in this clip from Star Wars, Episode III: Revenge of the Sith occurs at the 1:50 mark, when he starts/ends the fight by calling General Grievous a little old lady (literally grandmother) in Spanish: “¡Abuela!”

Barbie has not lowered their self-esteem | meetse-fles rieht derewol ton sah eibraB

The way they flirt with the camera, these young German women, Lynne and Tessa, are evidently brimming with self-confidence as they lip-sync “Barbie Girl” by Aqua.

“Hide your barf, barf, hide your barf” | “frab ruoy edih ,frab ,frab ruoy ediH”

You may be surprised how many viral video artists have reversed excerpts from Sesame Street. Ernie and his Muppet pals sing the reggae tune “Do De Rubber Duck.”

Say, what the hell happened to Ernie’s nipples, anyway?

Remember when he talked backwards in the movie? | ?eivom eht ni sdrawkcab deklat eh nehw rebmemeR

As Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Tom Hulce talks backwards in an early scene of Amadeus. You’re hearing the first movement of his Requiem Mass in D minor. If Led Zeppelin and the Beatles are interesting enough to play backwards, why not Mozart? (You better believe those others will be posted on this blog soon.)

“I like a shmoo” | “oomhs a ekil I”

“Sassy304” has posted “Boom-Shack-A-Lak” by Apache Indian in reverse on YouTube as “another backwards song,” but it’s the debut piece of reversed audio or video for my new blog. Played forwards, this song was the opening theme of the 1994 film movie Dumb and Dumber.
